How College Students Can Balance Fitness & Life

It’s been a fun day at college and your friends spontaneously make a plan to go out, but you have gym on your mind. Should you go out with your friends and make memories? Or should you go to the gym like you had planned, because getting what you want requires dedication and consistency? It’s been a long day at work and all you want is to go to sleep at home. Gym? Or get the beauty sleep that you know you’ll need?

 

Every fitness fanatic faces dilemmas like these virtually on a daily basis. Life is all about making the best decision from many confusing options, and here are some tips on how to go about it!

 

  1. Prioritize

Do what’s most important for you. Do what makes you happy. If you’ve already gone out with friends, gym is probably the smarter option. But, every situation is different and everyone has different priorities.

  1. Enjoy life and the gym

Fitness is a lifestyle, not a phase. If you want it to be sustainable, you should be able to balance fitness along with the rest of your life. So if you want to have that McDonald’s treat with your friends or a glass of wine with you colleagues, do it. But remember to keep it under control.

 

  1. Don’t feel guilty

The most important thing you need to remember is that it’s okay to have fun and have a cheat meal at times if it means enjoying experiences and moments that you will cherish for the rest of your life! But do not over indulge & get into unhealthy eating habits. Fitness is A PART of your life, not your entire life, so let it add to your life and not take experiences away.

 

 

  1. Listen to your body

If you’ve had a long day at work/college/school and are exhausted, give your body the rest that it needs to function the next day, otherwise you won’t be able to give the workout your 100% and you will feel weak after that.

 

  1. Don’t make excuses

The most important point of all: Don’t make excuses. Don’t use the above tips as excuses to not workout. If you’re skipping one or two days in a week, that’s alright. But the rest of the days, give your workout complete commitment. Make it a point to exercise, and make time for exercise. You won’t get that body and healthy mindset by making excuses everyday.
