Overview

GM diet helps the followers lose up to 7 kg in a week. It is a low calorie, low cost, 7-day weight loss plan. The term GM diet was introduced in the year 1985. GM or General Motors, an automobile company introduced a diet plan for its employees to keep them in the best health. However, after a denial from GM, it is still unclear why the diet has been named GM Diet plan. It is also known as the Sacred Heart Diet. We will share with you the Indian GM Diet plan for weight loss in 7 days.  GM diet plan primarily includes non-vegetarian components. However, for Indians, the GM diet plan was slightly modified and made vegetarian so that it can be useful for almost every Indian who is looking to lose weight.

Dos and Don’ts

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Use rock salt, sea salt or the Himalayan pink salt instead of refined salt.
  • Avoid refined sugar, stick to natural sweeteners, such as raw honey or stevia.
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol, tea, coffee and aerated drinks
  • Use lemon, vinegar, herbs, or other low-calorie flavourings
  • Stay away from wheat, fruit juice and processed food.
  • 30 minutes of exercise is necessary
  • Cook your food in either extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil, Rice bran oil and keep use of oil in moderation.
  • Follow the diet religiously.

Indian GM Diet Plan for Weight Loss

Day 1: Consume only fruits except Banana, 8-10 glasses of water

Breakfast – One Papaya/ Apple/ Orange, One glass of water

Mid-Morning Snack – Muskmelon or Cucumber, One glass of water.

Lunch – Watermelon, Two glasses of water.

Afternoon Snack – Orange or Grapefruit or Peach, One glass of water.

Evening Snack – Pear or apple, One glass of water

Dinner – Guava or Grapefruit or Green Apple, Two glasses of water.

Exercise:

Stretching, thirty minutes’ walk or spot jogging, followed by twenty squats.

Day Two: Consume raw and boiled vegetables, 8 glasses water

Breakfast – One medium-sized boiled potato or sweet potato topped with One teaspoon of butter or sour cream

Mid-Morning Snack – One bowl of cabbage or celery and lettuce, One glass of water

Lunch – Cucumber, Onion, and Carrot salad, Two glasses of water

Afternoon Snack – One cup boiled cauliflower, 1/2 cup sliced bell pepper, Two glasses of water

Evening Snack – Boiled cauliflower or green beans, One glass of water

Dinner – Boiled carrot, beet, broccoli and green beans, Two glasses of water

Exercise:

Surya-Namaskar, rope jumping, wrist rotation, shoulder rotation, arms circles and stretching.

Day 3: Consume fruits (except Banana) and vegetables (except Potato), 8 glasses of water

Breakfast – Cucumber or watermelon or Apple, Two glasses of water

Mid-Morning Snack  –  You can have Pears, Pineapples that are sliced, or Peaches, Two glasses of water

Lunch – One bowl of cucumbers or kiwis, onions, carrots, lettuce, Two glasses of water

Afternoon Snack – Orange or Grapes along with a glass of water

Evening Snack – Guava, Plums (either 1 or 2)

Dinner – One bowl of boiled broccoli or cauliflower, 1/2 boiled beet, 1/2 cup boiled raw papaya, Two glasses of water

Exercise:

Arms circles Wrist rotation, Shoulder rotation, Neck rotation, Ankle rotation  Squats  Lunges, Surya Namaskar, stretching.

Day 4: Include Bananas, Milk and water

Breakfast – Two bananas or Fig, One glass of normal or soy milk preferably

Mid-Morning Snack – Banana shake made with One banana and One glass of milk

Lunch – One bowl of vegetable soup

Afternoon Snack – Banana shake

Dinner – Bananas and One glass of milk

Drink 8 glasses of water throughout the day

Exercise:

Arms circles, Wrist rotation, Shoulder rotation, Neck rotation, Ankle rotation, Squats, spot jogging, Surya Namaskar, stretching

Day 5: Include Tomatoes, yogurt, Brown rice and 10 glasses of water

Breakfast – Carrots or Tomatoes either, boiled red kidney beans along with salt and pepper with a hint of lemon juice,  have a minimum of two glasses of water

Mid-Morning Snack:– Yogurt, at least 2 glasses of water

Lunch – Cooked Brown Rice, Tomatoes, Spinach, Two glasses of water

Afternoon Snack – Cucumber, lemon juice, pepper along with very little salt, two glasses of water

Evening Snack: Apples, Pears or Oranges are the best to have (1 no.)

Dinner – Soy Curry made from Soya chunks/ Vegetable Soup and salad, Two glasses of water

For non-vegetarian:

Two egg whites for breakfast

Boiled chicken or baked fish for lunch

Exercise:

Arms circles, Wrist rotation, Shoulder rotation, Neck rotation, rope jumping, Squats, Surya Namaskar, stretching.

Day 6: Sprouts and Veggies of your choice and  water

Breakfast – A bowl of boiled veggies of your choice, two glasses of water

Mid-Morning Snack – ½ bowl of boiled kidney beans, cucumber, Two glasses of water

Lunch – Brown rice, Bowl of vegetable soup, 1-Two glasses water

Afternoon Snack – Apples or Carrots, a glass of water

Evening Snack – A bowl of sprouts, a glass of water

Dinner – A bowl of boiled vegetables, a glass of water

For non-vegetarian:

Two egg whites in breakfast

Boiled chicken or baked fish or mushroom for lunch

Exercise:

Arms circles, Wrist rotation, Shoulder rotation, Neck rotation, spot jogging, Push-ups, Surya Namaskars, stretching.

 

Day 7: Fresh fruits juice, brown rice, vegetables and 8 glasses of water

Breakfast – One bowl of mixed vegetable or sprout, One glass of Apple or orange juice

Mid-Morning Snack – Berries or One Carrot, vegetable soup, one glass of water

Lunch – A cup of brown rice, a bowl of boiled vegetables, One-Two glasses of water

Afternoon Snack – Apple or Pear, One glass of water

Evening Snack – One Guava, One glass of water

Dinner – One bowl of vegetable soup, Two glasses of water

For non-vegetarian:

Two egg whites for breakfast

Boiled chicken or baked fish for lunch

Exercise:

Arms circles, Wrist rotation, Shoulder rotation, Neck rotation,  Squats, Surya Namaskar, stretching

It is an ideal way to lose weight for a healthy individual.  However, you must consult your physician in case of medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney ailment, hypotension, cholesterol and heart conditions. Pregnant females, lactating mother, and children should not follow GM diet. Do not follow GM diet more than twice a month.
